Upon receipt of a green card, you and your family (spouse and children under the age of 21 at the time of the application) are entitled to the same benefits as other lawful U.S. permanent residents. The benefits to you and your family include the following:

• Live, work or retire anywhere in the United States (not limited to New York City)
• Free to return to your homeland for visits or business purposes, as long as a residence is maintained in the United States
• Sponsor green cards for your relatives
• No authorization from USCIS required to accept employment
• Travel outside the United States and return without a visa
• Education benefits such as admission to public colleges and universities at the same costs as those of permanent residents
• Eligible for United States citizenship in 5 years
